The 10 Funniest Hunger Games Song Parodies

Truth be told, the Hunger Games series is so epic in part because it is legit serious. In the first book, Katniss and Peeta are fighting for their lives in the arena–and that isn’t a joke! But don’t let anyone tell you that there isn’t space for fun and play in this fandom. Check out our list of Hunger Games parodies riffing on ten of our fave songs from Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and more. Sure, not all of them will make you LOL, but we swear, you’ll soon be singing along to these (revised) lyrics!

1. Britney Spears’s “I Wanna Go”
The Gale-Peeta-Katniss love triangle is sooo overwrought, but we can’t help but guiltily indulge in a Katniss that sings that “there’s no shortage [of hot guys] in my District, if you know what I mean.” Not exactly true to character, but definitely true!

2. Taylor Swift’s “Enchanted”
This song covers Katniss and Peeta’s journey from The Hunger Games to Mockingjay, and like T. Swift’s original lyrics, you can’t help but be enchanted.

3. Bruno Mars’s “Grenade”
Bruno’s song also deals with a deadly scenario, though in the case of this parody, Katniss is “gonna play Hunger Gaaaames for ya” (among other things).

4. Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games”
Holly Laurent’s parody of Lana Del Rey is the perfect level of apathy and glam seduction that Katniss doesn’t have. Sample lyric? “This district smells like rat piss/My name is Katniss.” Yep, that happened.

5. Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain”
As “the girl on fire,” we can subject Katniss to a lot of fire puns and references, but this one is more symbolic–and set to one of the tunes of our go-to breakup ballad girl, Adele. Love!

6. Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts”
This song deals with Peeta’s memory issues in Mockingjay, and we can feel the longing Katniss reluctantly feels for a Peeta that doesn’t want to do her in. It’s okay, honey, we understand.

7. Train’s “Hey Soul Sister”
Normally, this Train song is uplifting, but it takes on a sadder note when put in the context of the Games. Katniss just has so many FEELINGS, you guys.

8. Lights’ “My Boots”
This could basically be considered the ballad of the Hunger Games, telling the story of how every year if you’re from “around here,” you must “hope it isn’t your name you hear” at the reaping, interwoven with the tale of Katniss and her (maybe) love. Sounds like a song the people of Panem will be singing for a while afterwards.

9. Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite”
Because when you’re Katniss Everdeen, you throw your bow up in the air sometimes.

10. Britney Spears’s “Hold It Against Me”
The dynamic between Katniss and Peeta is often in a state of flux throughout the books, and the bulk of the time it involves Katniss’s own issues about personal attachment. During the Games, a lot of mental games are played (no, seriously), and she wonders if Peeta would really “try to protect me.”

Hilar, right? What do you think about these parodies? Which one’s your favorite? Did we miss any good ones? Let us know in the comments!
