If you’ve ever experienced déjà vu while watching a film or TV show, then you probably understand what it’s like to overthink every single detail or question why it feels so familiar. You’ve probably mulled over the possibility of a recycled plot, squinted at familiar-looking props in the background or scrutinized the setting to see if it rang any bells. And just when you were about to give up trying, you noticed something interesting… like how the characters are sitting at the exact same diner that you saw in another romantic film. Or how your favorite character’s house in one movie turned out to be the home of a villain another film.
It’s clear that most filmmakers have a knack for recycling old sets – and we don’t blame them for it at all. In fact, it’s clever, because why waste time building a whole new set when you can reuse and refurbish an older one that’s still intact? The only thing, though, is that a lot of filmmakers have joined in on this trend… meaning that some of these locations have appeared over and over (and over) again in tons of films.
